Cinematographer - Steadicam Operator
I’m Austin Vinas, a Director of Photography and Steadicam Operator with a passion for visual storytelling rooted in movement, rhythm, and discipline. My path to film wasn’t traditional — I started out breakdancing and boxing, both of which taught me how to feel timing, anticipate motion, and connect physically to space. That foundation naturally led me to the camera, where I found a new way to express energy and emotion.
I also served in the U.S. Army, an experience that broadened my perspective and taught me how to adapt under pressure — lessons I bring with me to every set. Whether I’m navigating a Steadicam through a tight scene or lighting a frame to capture raw emotion, I draw from all these past lives to stay grounded, intuitive, and in sync with the story.
I’ve worked across commercials, TV, and film with brands and studios like Nike, New Balance, McDonald’s, BET, Showtime, and OWN. I’m also the founder of Studio Engine, a tool built to support filmmakers throughout the creative process. At the core of it all, I’m driven by the same things that brought me here in the first place: movement, storytelling, and a deep respect for the craft.

I have always been an artist at heart from a young age. My involvement in the Marketing, Film, Commercial, and Music industry stems from my love of networking, and moreover, my love for other artists and like minded individuals. I have been in the entertainment industry for over a decade working in various capacities on and off set. Having been fortunate enough to work along side a lot of top billed talent, and working industry professionals, I always make it my goal to pay it forward and help up and coming: companies, crew, talent, artists, productions, etc.
My main pride and joy is working on the extremely technical aspects of our industry and always pushing the envelope further. I have done extensive commercial work with many fortune 500 companies and agencies:

1ST AC - Camera/Lens Tech
My goal as an AC is to help your shoot run with efficiency and precision mirrored with adaptability to help your creation reach its full potential.
I graduated top of my class with a BFA in Film Productions from David Lipscomb University. My career sprung forth working as a lens/camera Tech for: Birns and sawyer, DBV, Daufenbach, PRG. Outside of rentals, I spent a year broadening my knowledge working as a Studio manager for NuMynd studios.
While working as a Lens Tech/Camera tech, I worked as a 1ST AC on projects for: Netflix, ABC, A&E New Balance, Nike, Campbells soup, Hyatt, Draft kings, Feature films for BET, Chance the Rapper and Kanye.
These jobs and many more have aided me to create a skill set with the ability to handle precision projects and High risk situations. My goal on set is simple: to support a production to achieve maximum productivity with minimum time and resources wasted.
DIT - Editor - Colorist - Camera Op - 1st AC
I have spent over a decade in Production and Post Production with creators, artists, companies, teams curating and working with the worlds of Film, Television, Live Productions, & Music Entertainment. From loading 40-foot trucks for 6 months of grip production, days of screen time to sculpt and animate 3D models, to fabrication of custom camera equipment to support a clients multi-camera production demand or building a drone to meet different standards, and just even advising pre-production along the way so that every question is cleared with no stone unturned when production day comes around.
